Are you one of those salespeople who will try any strategy besides cold calling to generate quality leads? Do you have a fear of rejection when making a call to your potential prospect?
“It’s time to get over your fear”
Cold calling success does not go to the smartest in the room, the best looking, hardest worker, or the one that makes the most calls. The sale goes to the confident salesperson who does all their due diligence before even making the call.
Here are four tips that helped me close some fortune 500 clients via cold calling.
1. Research your prospect
As a salesperson I like to research my prospect before I dial their number. Our generation has the luxury or social media to find interests of our potential prospects. Therefore, if you see your prospect has certain hobbies, passions, or even network connections, use this for your sales pitch.
2. Be Confident
Be confident with every call you make. Your prospect will hear your voice and immediately see if you are shy, nervous, or not educated on what you are selling. Therefore, in that first 5 seconds make sure you leave the impression that you are confident and won’t take the dreaded answer “no”.
3) Do not give up
Every “No” can be turned into a “Yes”. If your prospect is not interested at the time of your call don’t give up. Now a days, professionals need to multi task and wear numerous hats. Therefore, you might be calling while your prospect is
- Eating Lunch
- Driving
- In a meeting
- Working on another project
What can you do if this is the case?
Always ask for a follow-up. Although they might not be interested today, they might be interested in a in the near future.
4) Do not get down on yourself
Hey! No one said this was going to be easy. You are not going to close a deal with every call (If you do, I want to hire you). Don’t let rejections, hang-ups, or rude prospects deter you from doing what you are good at. If anything, use it as motivation and keep cold calling……you will succeed.
